Unite! Invest to Prevent Violence Against Women and Girls – 16 Days of Activism Against GBV 2023

Nov 25, 2023 - Dec 10, 2023

Free

Gender-based violence (GBV) remains one of the most widespread violations of human rights, affecting millions of women and girls globally. In response to this persistent challenge, the annual 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence campaign calls on individuals, organizations, and institutions to unite in ending all forms of violence against women and girls. Running from November 25th to December 10th, this year’s campaign is themed “Unite! Invest to Prevent Violence Against Women and Girls.”

At Safe Haven Cameroon, we are committed to raising awareness, mobilizing communities, and strengthening efforts to prevent and respond to GBV. This year’s campaign highlights the importance of investing in education, legal frameworks, support services, and community engagement to eliminate GBV and promote gender equality.

As part of our commemoration activities, Safe Haven Cameroon will host a series of engaging and impactful events designed to foster learning, build solidarity, and amplify survivor voices.

Online Discussion Sessions (Twitter Spaces) – November 26th & December 3rd, 2023
These virtual sessions will bring together a diverse lineup of six expert speakers across two Sundays to explore critical issues surrounding GBV. Themes include the mental health impact of GBV, prevention strategies, the role of men and boys in GBV prevention, the influence of technology and social media, and survivor support and justice. Each conversation will offer insights, practical solutions, and open dialogue with the public.

16 DAG Hangout – December 9th, 2023
This physical event will serve as the grand finale of our campaign activities. Open to the general public, the hangout will feature powerful panel sessions with survivors and GBV experts, interactive Q&A rounds, and community feedback collection. It will provide a safe space for shared experiences, collective reflection, and renewed commitment to ending GBV.
