Sensitization Campaign in Primary Schools (ECCRSS Project)

March 26

Free

Safe Haven Cameroon in collaboration with Lead Child Africa and Wanda’s Legacy is launching the Empowering Communities to Combat Rape and Support Survivors: A Holistic Approach project funded by Rescue Women Cameroon, a critical initiative designed to address the devastating issue of rape in Yaoundé. This project takes a multifaceted approach to combat sexual violence, focusing on sensitization campaigns, skills acquisition workshops, and digital advocacy. Through community engagement and empowerment, we aim to provide survivors with the tools to rebuild their lives while creating lasting awareness around the issue of rape.

Sensitization Campaign in Primary Schools

afe Haven Cameroon will begin its project with a sensitization campaign targeting primary and secondary school pupils in Yaoundé. This campaign is designed to educate young learners about the critical issue of rape, its far-reaching consequences, and how they can protect themselves and their peers. By focusing on young minds, we aim to instill an early understanding of personal boundaries, respect, and consent.

Through the use of visibility materials such as flyers, posters, stickers, and comics, we will communicate important messages about the dangers of rape, highlighting both the physical and psychological effects of sexual violence. These materials are designed to be age-appropriate and easy for children to understand. The materials will also include simple, clear steps that children can take to prevent rape or respond to violence if they or someone they know becomes a victim.

A key feature of this event will be the presence of a trained counselor, who will provide private support for any child who may be a survivor of sexual violence or is in need of emotional assistance. This ensures that the campaign is not only informative but also offers immediate support to those in need.
