I am Ruth Amin, a Public Health Practitioner with over five years experience in community health promotion and disease prevention. As the Founder and of Hope in Pink Foundation, I have devoted my career to addressing critical health disparities and empowering underserved communities through evidence-based interventions and grassroots advocacy.

Over the past five years, I have led comprehensive community outreach programs that have reached thousands of individuals across diverse communities. My work encompasses:

  • Designed and implemented culturally-sensitive health education programs targeting rural and urban communities, resulting in increased health literacy and preventive care adoption
  • Delivered over 50 targeted health talks focusing on breast cancer awareness, mental health destigmatization, and gender-based violence prevention in schools and communities in the SW Region.
  • Collaborated with local healthcare facilities, government agencies, and international NGOs to amplify program reach and sustainability of mental health services.
  • Facilitated early detection workshops and connected high-risk individuals with screening services at the Buea Regional Hospital
  • Establishing support networks for breast cancer survivors and their families
  • Advocated for improved access to mammography services in underserved areas
  • Established peer support groups for individuals experiencing mental health challenges by creating WhatsApp forums linking experts to youths in need of their services.
  • Mentored young women on leadership and self-advocacy skills
  • Led quality improvement initiatives in health laboratories, enhancing diagnostic accuracy and turnaround times
  • Implemented laboratory information management systems to improve data collection and reporting
  • Trained laboratory technicians on best practices and quality assurance protocols

My approach to public health is rooted in the belief that sustainable health improvements require community ownership, cultural sensitivity, and systems-level thinking. I am committed to:

  • Ensuring all programs are developed in partnership with the communities they serve
  • Utilizing current research and data to inform program design and evaluation
  • Addressing social determinants of health and advocating for marginalized populations
  • Empowering local leaders and organizations to sustain health improvements long-term.
  • I have equally written 2 articles on rape which are under review for publication

As founder of Hope in Pink Foundation, I have built an organization that serves as a catalyst for positive health outcomes in vulnerable communities. The foundation’s work includes:

  • Advocacy for policy changes that improve access to healthcare services
  • Research partnerships with academic institutions to address local health challenges
  • Leadership development programs for young health advocates

I am committed to expanding the reach and impact of community health interventions while continuing to advocate for systemic changes that address the root causes of health disparities. My goal is to create a model of community-led health promotion that can be replicated and scaled across diverse settings
